The old people of the iPhone world breathed a sigh of relief when Manomio’s celebrated (though troubled) C64 emulator finally made its way back to the App Store – this time to stay.
But it’s version 1.2 that we’re all excited about, as it’ll allow in-app purchases of more classic 8-bit games. Manomio has been chatting with us this afternoon about several trips it’s made around the UK in the last few weeks, and all the beer it’s had to buy while scouting for C64 game licenses.
But those gallons of 8-bit beer have paid off, as the rights to bring a host of new old games – including Hewson’s entire back catalogue (depending on which ones emulate properly, of course) – to C64 have been organised.
Primarily, the excellent platform fighting game Bruce Lee will be there to kick down the doors of version 1.2, and will be free to all users. Also on the list, as you can see by the image above, are some sensational nostalgic treasures such as Cybernoid, Kickstart, Paradroid, Uridium, Druid, Stormlord and Alleykat.
The better known and more popular titles will be made available to buy individually, while the lesser known and smaller ones will be bundled into packs of two to six games.
Over the next few weeks and months you can expect a lot more hot (white hot) announcements like this both for C64, and from Manomio’s other projects.
Don’t go far, retroheads.
