With the phenomenal success of AppBox Pro, I’m surprised that more apps don’t create the “multiple apps within one app” genre. Zoo Olympic did just that.
The individual games are pretty simplistic and kind of cute. There are six in all. All games involve a cute lion as the main character.
There is Sea Escape, which is an underwater equivalent of the videogame Asteroids. The user must use the screen controls so the animal-like submarine must avoid underwater objects (mines, perhaps?) and get others.
Then there is Lion Ball, in which you have to tap the screen to guide a bouncing ball into a toy lion’s mouth. If three balls hit the ground, you lose. Each ball that makes it in the lion’s mouth earns a point.
The third game is Enjoy Flying. This one has a cute lion with a cape flyinig to avoid both the top and bottom of the screen as well as pieces of wood floating in the air.
The fourth game is Memory Card, in which the user has a screen of cards and must flip them to find matching ones in the least amount of time.
The part I like most about the fifth game, Jumping High, is that if you lose and fall, your lion appears as an angel floating up. The objective is to jump to subsequently higher plateaus while catching shoes with wings.
The final game, Eat Meat, involves the lion catching manna in the form of meat falling from Heaven. If you catch a bomb by mistake, then the lion explodes.
If you’re looking for a good game for young kids, then Zoo Olympic is what you should check out.
Quick Take
Value: Good
Would I Buy Again: Possibly.
Learning Curve: Low.
Who Is It For: Entertaining children without involving monsters or zombies.
What I Like: The game is cute, as is its mascot.
What I Don’t: Kind of simplistic, but I’m not the target audience.
Final Statement: Buy if your kid likes these sorts of games, if your looking for yourself, look elsewhere (unless your a kid at heart).
