SkySmash 1918 is a vertical shooter that pays homage to the many great plane shooters found in old school gaming. This one has you flying a plane through the first world war and fighting many different enemies including some crazy inventions as bosses. The game utilizes the touch capabilities of the device to control the plane as it mows through its enemies. This could be the first complaint for many as some desire to use the accelerometer and it is not possible in this game.
The game starts up with some of the happiest music that I’ve heard in years and then proceeds to turn to bullets and madness. The game handeled very well but I must agree with other critics in saying that I was hit by bullets a lot due to my finger being in the way.
There are many different powerups that can be collected throughout the levels that will help you destroy more of the enemies faster. A larger downside to the game is its shortness.
It didn’t last very long at all and the levels sometimes felt pretty repetitive. It definitely reminded me of a flash game that could be found online and as such I think its low price is justified. Overall it’s a decent shooter that is cheap and full of great looking gameplay. Check it out.
